My story
I am a senior communications specialist experienced in helping organizations and their people shine.
As a seasoned storyteller with a background in journalism and communications, I specialize in helping organizations build loyalty and connect in meaningful ways with key audiences.
I have 15 years of experience leading and implementing communications efforts in non-profit and higher education, focusing on issues of economic and social mobility, college access, sustainability and natural resources, human development, and research that can address state and national challenges.
Prior to working in communications, I spent more than a decade as a writer and reporter, including living and working abroad.
After the fall of Communism, I bought a one-way ticket to Prague and spent three years covering the way life and the economy were changing as the Czech Republic opened up.
Upon returning, I served as a reporter in a rural California coastal community, covering government and education, the environment and the farming and fishing communities.
Throughout my career, I have focused on causes I care deeply about, to build broader public and stakeholder support for efforts with the power to promote change, protect the planet and improve human well-being.
What I can do for you
Whether you are working at an international or deeply local level, I can help you develop and execute communications plans that will advance your organizational goals, while connecting emotionally and meaningfully with your audiences.
As a nimble writer as comfortable writing social media posts and campaign taglines as long-form articles and op-eds, I can help reach diverse audiences across a wide range of platforms and media. And as a former journalist who knows how to spot a news hook, I can pitch stories in a way that will get media attention and help establish your organization as a go-to source.
